Athletes are asked to be at practice no less than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled practice time.

If you have an EAVC warmup jacket, would you please bring it for sizing for this years new jackets.

Saskatchewan Player Release

Saskatchewan athletes participating with EAVC must request a release to play with an Alberta team. Please contact Saskatchewan Volleyball executive director, Danny Medford, at execdirector@saskvolleyball.ca . You must communicate reason as to why you should be eligible to play with an Alberta team, for example the nearest Saskatchewan Club team is over 1n hr away where EAVC is with in 10 minutes. Once you have received confirmation of your release please email Todd Cheram ASAP to confirm your eligibility to play with EAVC.

EAVC Tryout Continued

I was very pleased with the turn out that we had at our first open house on December 5. The tryout showcased some great talent from our region. I was pleased with the energy in the gym and am excited to be seeing everyone back in the gym on December 12th.

Some athletes may be approached by coaching staff to stay and play with an older group to look at team dynamics.

Athletes who are attending this Tryout for their first time will be expected to pay the $10 fee.

There will be an adjustment to the EAVC fees due to an over site, there is a $50 player registration and an athlete's percentage of the coaches registration fees with AVA not accounted for in the sample Invoice. Please understand that the fees are based on a 12 member team. In the event that the teams are smaller in numbers, which it is looking like they will be at this time, the fees will again be adjusted.

I am pleased to confirm that EAVC is almost certain to be offering three teams to the athletes from 15U to 18U.

In the new year, EAVC will also be offering teams to 13U and 14U. EAVC will be reaching our mission to offer opportunities for all age groups to be involved in the volleyball club experience. Thank you coaches.

EAVC OPEN HOUSE

EAVC will be offering an I.D. open house on December 5 2010. Athletes for the categories of 15U to 18U will participate together for this session. This session will be used as an opportunity to see the number and abilities of athletes to determine which teams and combination of players will be competing this season. Please read the previous blog for details on age categories.

2010-11 Season Update

As our 2010 school seasons are coming to an end, many athletes in the area are seeking out their opportunities to be part of a club volleyball experience. EAVC continues to be a great club with many alumni and new faces expressing their interest. The new season promises to be an exciting one as the callibur of the volleyball in our area continues to grow. At this point EAVC will be aiming to create an opportunity for all age categories to tryout amongst the areas best athletes.

Brad Pylypow has expressed his committment once again to EAVC. He has disclosed that he will be running 2 teams this year, a 13U and a 14U team.

Todd Cheram (myself) will be coaching 2 teams as well. I will be hosting an openhouse in december to gauge who I have for interest. From their I will be taking the most experienced combinations and making 2 teams from them. The teams may have any combination of athlete ages as long as they are of age or younger than the category. For example a 15U Player could play 16U... The teams will be composed of the strongest talent and committment eligable to play. If a 16U player is strong enough and adds to the 18U team , this athlete may find themselves with the older group. At this point I am planning to coach an 18U and 16U team.

Jamie Bishop has offered her coaching services to potentially lead a team this year. Her team is dependent upon the age category and number of athletes.

EAVC Camp was a huge hit!

I would like to extend a greatly appreciated thank you to the Kings University College Women's Volleyball team for providing excellent leadership at this years camp. Eagles head coach, Grace Scott, brought six varsity athletes, including Provost Public School's Alumni Alyssa Downing, to share their expertise and passion for the game of volleyball with our local athletes. From ages 10 to 17, all athletes walked away with new insight, fun memories and an excitement for the seasons to come.

EAVC will have a busy weekend with two teams competing in provincials. The 13U team will be playing in Red Deer's Provincials and the 18U team will be playing in Calgary's Division II Provincial tournament. Best of luck to the girls; we hope you have a great experience and play your best.

17U Season Wraps Up

The 17U EAVC girls volleyball team finished their season this past weekend. The team played at Sherwood Park in the AVA Provincials. The team had some exceptional plays where they displayed the ability to rally and compete with all teams they faced. They started the tournament playing a division 1 team and had a great opening set to lose narrowly, 25-21. The team finished the season with a convincing win over the Crush.

15U Tournament April 10 & 11 - A snowy one

I hope all the teams drive safely as they brave the weather to travel to the Edmonton region today. Waking up to 90km winds and snow; the roads will not be a very fun place to be. I hope to see all my EAVC girls arrive safely. Safe travels.

Saturday March 6th practice is cancelled due to basketball tournament.
This practice is rescheduled for Sunday March 7th at 1:00pm at Provost Public School.

First Tournaments for 17U & 15U Teams

EAVC 17U & 15U teams competed in their first tournaments these past couple of weekends. 17U's played in Calgary and 15U's played in Edmonton. Both teams played hard and fought some great battles. The athletes are making great friendships and creating unforgettable memories. The hallways and gymnasiums are echoing with "EAVC". With exciting wins and close losses, EAVC hits the gym to prepare for up and coming competitions. Best of luck to the 17Us as they travel for Leduc.

There will be no practice on Sunday Feb 14th due to a mens basketball tournament.

The gym has tentatively been booked for practice time on Monday Feb 15th from 6:00-8:00. Check for confrimation at your next practice.

U17 Practice Update

U17s will not be practicing on Feb 12, 14,19,21,26,28 due to tournaments and coach committment with EAVC teams at tournaments.

U17s will have an alternative practice on Thursday Feb 11th at 5:00 @ PPS
U17s have been tentatively booked for a 6:00-8:00 practice on monday Feb 15th. Confirmation will be made at thursdays practice.

13U Triple Ball

The U13 teams will compete under a modified game known as "Triple Ball". Triple Ball is intended to promote rallies, multi-dimensional skill development and playing time amongst athletes on a team. You can view the link under "Useful Locations" to watch a video that outlines Triple Ball.

Hotel Bookings

The crunch time has arrived to get this seasons hotels organized. Teams should be booking well in advance. Unfortunately tournament venues are not posted too far in advance so hotel locations will be a bit of a guess. Hotels should be booked fairly central in each city.

Athletes and Parents are to contact their respective teams Travel agent parent volunteer to book hotels. Parents are responsible for supervision, travel and accomodations.
