17/18U Tryout #3

There will not be a session on Tuesday dec 20th for this age group as Mr. C will be celebrating his wife and sons birthdays with his family. So this session will be tentatively booked for Thursday December 22nd, 5:00-6:30. I hope to have all 17-18u athletes that are intending to play to make the tryout so that we can evaluate effectively positions and player roles. Tryouts

EAVC will be hosting open house viewings the week of December 5th-9th. Players will be grouped in 13u to 15u categories and also 16u to 18u categories. From here coaches will deliberate to decide which teams will be offered based on number of coaches, player numbers, athlete commitment and performance. Coaches may then streamline numbers for a second phase of tryouts to determine their final teams.

Dates and times will be announced shortly.

Age Classes for 2012

13u born in 1999
14u born in 1998
15u born in 1997
16u born in 1996
17u born in 1995
18u born in 1994*

Athletes born in 1993 that are in grade 12 for the 2011-12 year (first year in grade 12) may apply for an exemption to compete. Up to a maximum of two overage players per team.

Tryouts

Dates will be announced sometime this week, the dates will most likely be on week nights as the weekends are looking pretty booked up. I have a few more coaching contacts to make and then we will post. Stay tuned.

Coaching Opportunities

EAVC would like to extend the offer to positive experienced coaches to help EAVC with our mission to provide exciting opportunities to volleyball players in the East Central Alberta Area(Provost region). The commitment ranges from December or January into the month of May for most age categories. Small Honorarium provided to help with expenses.

East Alberta Volleyball Camp 2011

EAVC is pleased to be working once again with King's University College to offer a summer camp for the 2011 year. This camp is designed to give female volleyball players the opportunity to be instructed by athletes competing at the college level.Camp Dates: August 26-27
Location: Provost Public School
Ages: 2011-2012 Grade 6-12
Cost : $60 (Made out to EAVC)
Registration Deadline : August 8th 2011

This years intentions are to give each athlete have the opportunity to be in the gym for a total of 8hrs of instruction over the 2 day camp. Times and groupings will be determined and posted as the registration deadline closes. Instruction will not begin prior to 1:00pm on August 26th and will be a pretty full day once we get started. Athletes should be prepared and committed to be available for any times on August 26-27th.

15U Canadian Open

EAVC will not be participating in the 2011 Canadian Open. We were on a wait list but did not get in. For a list of teams entered visit v-ball canada's website.

If you would like a refund for your entry to this event, please email me (todd_cheram@hotmail.com) a mailing address and the name the cheque should be made out to. The cheque will be for $80. If you do not wish to collect a refund, the $80 will be added to the general EAVC funds for future seasons and events such as EAVC volleyball camps.

Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer

Mr. Cheram will be participating in a 200 mile cycling

tour on June 25th and 26th to help raise money for

cancer research. My team and I will be starting in

Calgary Alberta and traveling west in to the

Rocky Mountain and Foot Hills Region over the 2 days.

My individual goal is to raise $2500 or more.

Player AVA ACTIVATION NOTICE!!!

The deadline for roster changes is March 31st. Please confirm that your roster is up to date and apply any changes prior to the deadline date. Rosters need to be correct for Provincials and any teams attending Nationals or a Volleyball Canada regional event. All members must be ACTIVE on your roster. To activate pending members please follow the instructions below.

Please contact your pending members and instruct them to check for the confirmation email sent via the NRS. Advise them to also check their junk mail as it can be delivered in that folder. At this point, if a confirmation email is not found or received, proceed with the following:

Contact Alberta Volleyball at (780) 415 - 1703 with the names and emails of your pending members. Once those are provided to AVA an email will be resent via the NRS for the member to confirm registration by clicking on the link provided. After they complete their profile and registration is confirmed, the member will become active.

IMPORTANT: Only coaches & assistant coaches that are registered with their teams before the deadline date will be allowed to sit on the bench at Alberta Volleyball & Volleyball Canada Tournaments.
